Mia Rassam is an interdisciplinary artist based in California. She is dedicated to exploring humanity through figuration with a focus in feminist theory and female liberation. Rassam’s current work analyzes the link between body autonomy, Catholicism, and the environment. By use of symbols, text, and materials, Rassam finds parallels in her experience as a woman to the oppressive rhetoric present within the Bible. This is linked to the degradation of land, building metaphors within her compositions that address the persistent mistreatment of the female body and the earth. These narratives are made to honor the body as it exists in the physical and ethereal realms. Leveraging vulnerability and autobiographical elements, Rassam’s work confronts her personal experiences with objectification and sexual violence while providing moments of levity and hope.

Rassam graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2024 with a B.A. in Art Studio and Communications.
